The child has one intuitive aim: self development

Porridge at School

At Don Bosco CALM, the children take porridge early in the morning before going to school which is served in the dining hall with some eatables like, eggs or bread at times. While at school for those in primary, during break time, porridge is again taken to them though school porridge is served which is not of good quality hence taking for them porridge prepared by our cook. It’s taken by the Priest around in the van with one of the social workers to help in the serving to ascertain that everyone has an equal share.

The cups are then brought back and properly washed to be used the following day. We used to face a challenge of the cups when the students used to keep them. They could get lost and some could not be washed well. Thus keeping them and ensuring that they are washed well. Some of the students who are not from CALM also have the opportunity to share with them porridge. This instills in them a spirit of sharing with their friends since at CALM we share. So far so good, since most of the children take the porridge served with sugar. The healthy benefits of porridge are vast and the children continue to thank all the benefactors for such a great opportunity. And may God bless all those who share the little with the less fortunate children
