Brass Band joining the program of cleaning and planting trees in Uganda

This Thursday 14th August 2014 at KIRA Town, there took place the launching of national program of cleaning the country and planting trees. Our Salesian CALM House has joined this program by mobilizing the brass band to warm this activity. Many administrators, Police and army, some MPs of Uganda, Mayors from Gulu, Lira, Mbarara and Kampala have responded this national program. The program was supposed to start at 7.30 AM began around 11.30 AM. This was due to the Traffic Jam within Ugandan towns. Therefore, the honorable guests expected in that function arrived too late. Father Elie represented the salesian community by accompanying the brass band boys. The marching started from Kira Town Council up to Namugongo Shrine of Martyrs. Marching under the midday sun of Namugongo was painful for our boys. However they managed to resist until Namugongo Shrine where the function took place. There waere few speeches after which, everybody present was given an order to plant trees along the Namugongo-Kyaliwajaala Road. Around 1.00PM our brass boys, yawning under the sun, have been given some snacks and little drinks to calm the situation. It was around 2.00 PM that the function ended.
